Police at Tankoro police station in Kono District have arrested two people including the girlfriend over the alleged murder of one Sahr Gbessay formerly of Kainkordu town, Soa Chiefdom, in Eastern Sierra Leone.
Gbessay’s bones were reportedly found burnt down to ashes in a nearby bush after being missing for more than a month. According to investigation, the deceased has been living in the said town with his fiancée, but recently mysteriously got missing.
“The burnt skeletal remains of Sahr Gbessay who was formerly living in Kainkordu town, Soa Chiefdom under the auspices of his fiancée Nancy Foyoh was discovered on Friday 15th April 2022 around 5 p.m. in the said beans garden,” according to the police update.
According to information, Gbessay got missing in early March 2022, and since then his whereabouts weren’t known until his burnt skeletal bones were reportedly discovered in a nearby bush in the said town.
According to an update from the Tankoro Police Station, his bones were discovered burnt in a beans (konsho) garden in Kainkordu town on Frida 15thApril 2022, at around 5 p.m. local time.
The deceased, police said, was suspected to have been murdered in the said bush and burnt down.
“He’s said to have gone missing in nearly March 2022 and the search for him was ongoing when they discovered his burnt skeletons in the garden mentioned,” the police update reads.
The matter was reported at the Kainkordu Police post by one Eric Sahr Njamiena, a relative of the deceased.
According to Independent Observer Newspaper, police said they have arrested Nancy Foyoh, and one of the deceased close friends. The two are suspected to have murdered the deceased and are helping the police in the investigations.
