The Sierra Leonean film industry is grieving the loss of one of its veteran actor and producer, Emile Arlvin Manley, who passed away on Wednesday, 9th July 2025.
According to reports, Emile fell ill while in his car and, despite efforts to rush him to the nearest hospital, he sadly passed away before receiving medical attention.
Manley passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy that has profoundly impacted the nation’s cinematic landscape.
Known for his dedication as a devoted spouse and loving father, Manley was a visionary in the arts. His tireless efforts helped establish the foundation for Sierra Leone’s evolving cinema culture, inspiring stories that resonated with audiences and nurturing emerging talent.

Colleagues describe Manley as a champion of quality and unity in the film community, fostering collaboration both on and off set. His work encouraged countless aspiring filmmakers and actors, ensuring that his influence will endure in the industry.
The Sierra Leonean film community issued a heartfelt statement, expressing their sorrow: “Rest in peace Emile. We send our deepest condolences and prayers to his family and friends.”
