Thirty years old Alima Barnard, a Fishmonger made her first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba Road Court No.6 in Freetown on three count charges of causing Grievous Bodily Harm cobtrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861, wounding contrary to section 20 of the Offence Against the Persons Act 1861 and Assault occasioning actual Bodily Harm contrary to section 47 of Offence Against the Persons Act 1861.
According to the particulars of Offence, on Friday 9th December, 2022 at Titty Hotel, Crab Town, Lumley in the western area in Freetown, caused grievous bodily harm to Fatu Dauda Kamara and on count two and three, the accused person on the same date and place, maliciously wounded and assaulted Fatu Dauda Kamara in a manner thereby accassioning her actual bodily harm.
On her first appearance, the charges were read and explained to the accused person and no plea was taken.
Inspector Musu Edna Kpulunwas, the lead prosecutor, witness number one, Fatu Dauda Kamara, a student, recognized the accused person as her neighbor and recalled the 9th December 2022 at home when the accused person assaulted her.
Counsel representing the accused person A.G Kamara, applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person which was granted in the sum of twenty million leones with two sureties in like sum, sureties to be resident in the western area and to produce valid identity card, one surety to be employed bail to be approved by the Bench. The matter was adjourned to the 9th January 2023 for further hearing.
