Sierra Leone’s ambassador to Switzerland, Lansana Gberie who doubles as the council char for the International Organization on Migration (IOM) has concluded discussions around the global compact on migration and other related issues with key stakeholders.
Amb Gberie had a successful exchange with Amb. Fouad Yazourh, Director General of Bilateral Relations and Regional Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad.
They congratulated the government of Sierra Leone for its effort in establishing a universal coverage of social protection and tireless engagement around the global compact on migration.
Ambassador Gberie also engaged the Director of Migration, Ministry of Interior and IOM collaboration, Khalid Zerouali on issues related to the areas of bilateral cooperation between the IOM and MOI joint investment on migration data and management.
In a productive work exchange on priority areas related to migration which may include rights based returns, integration and climate change, the EU head of delegation, Amb. Cussac expressed and thanked the team for a collaborative work between the EU and IOM.
With these engagements, it is believed that, the issues of migration from Sierra Leone and other African countries for greener pastures and for other issues will be resolved and the high death rate related to the Mediterranean Sea will lo be addressed.
