Professional footballer Mohamed Kamara was remanded in custody after appearing before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Pademba Road Court No. 2 last Wednesday.
He faces five charges linked to the unlawful possession and handling of the prohibited drug Kush.
The charges include collecting, transporting, exposing, dealing in, and possessing the substance without legal authorization. Police reports indicate that Kamara was arrested on March 19, 2025, at the Lumley Police checkpoint, where he was allegedly caught transporting and dealing in Kush.
Due to the seriousness of the allegations, no plea was entered during the hearing. Prosecutor Detective Police Constable Thoronka K.K. requested an adjournment to consult with witnesses and finalize case preparations.
Magistrate Bangura ordered Kamara to be held at the Freetown Male Correctional Facility. The case has been adjourned until April 30, 2025, for further proceedings.
The arrest comes as Sierra Leonean authorities intensify efforts to combat drug-related crimes across the country.
