four officers of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have been dismissed following their conviction by a police tribunal.

The officers were found guilty of engaging in improper conduct linked to two robbery incidents that occurred in Taiama and Kenema in August 2024.

The tribunal, which convened on Thursday, September 5, 2024, determined that the actions of the officers not only breached the code of conduct but also tarnished the reputation of the police force. As a result, the tribunal recommended their immediate dismissal from the SLP.

In addition to their termination, the convicted officers have been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in the southern region for further criminal investigations.

Their alleged involvement in these robbery cases has raised concerns about the need for stricter measures to maintain professionalism and accountability within the police ranks.

The Sierra Leone Police force, in its ongoing efforts to restore public trust, has reiterated its commitment to taking decisive action against any officer who violates the law or compromises the values of the institution. This latest dismissal serves as a clear message that no one within the force is above the law.

As the CID continues its investigation, the outcome of this case will be closely monitored by both the public and law enforcement agencies, as it highlights the importance of integrity within the ranks of those entrusted with protecting citizens and enforcing justice.
