At Pademba Road Court No. 1, Magistrate Keikura has remanded four individuals – Abubakar Fofanah (30), William Turay (30), Edward Renner (22), and Alimamy Sesay (47) – on charges of conspiracy, office breaking, and larceny, in violation of section 26(1) of the Larceny Act.

According to police reports, on October 14, 2023, the accused conspired to commit the crime at Virtues Funeral Home on Bolling Street, Kingtom, Freetown. They allegedly broke into the office of Madam Daphne Davies, stealing a safe containing $1,200 USD, 21,700 Leones in cash, an LG musical set, and a 42-inch LG Plasma TV, totaling 38,700 Leones and $1,200 USD.

The charges were read to the accused, and no pleas were entered. Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai led the prosecution, calling Sergeant 8576 Issa Kamara from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as a witness.

Kamara testified about the exhibits he received on November 20, 2023, from Inspector Kargbo N. The exhibits included an old orange-colored handsaw and an old scissor with a red handle, registered under serial number RCE 127/2023. The items were presented in court as evidence.

The accused, who were unrepresented by legal counsel, cross-examined the witness. Magistrate Keikura denied bail for Edward Renner, while bail was continued for Fofanah, Turay, and Sesay.

The case is adjourned to August 12, 2024, for further hearing.
