Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, known as Jadrolita or “Jarvis” on TikTok, recently visited Sierra Leone for a school tour. Following the visit, rumors spread online that the government had spent $52,000 to bring her to the country.

Myk Berewa, Director of Communications in the Office of the President, addressed the claims in an interview and clarified the situation.

Berewa explained that the visit was organized by Gbamgbaode Festival, an entertainment group that regularly hosts events for high school students. “Gbamgbaode is a strong team. They’ve been organizing events with Nigerian acts, and ticket prices are 600, 700 leones. They wanted to give back to the community,” Berewa said.

He added that Gbamgbaode had connections with Jarvis and Peller, another Nigerian figure, and initially planned to bring both. However, they later focused on Jarvis. Berewa, who was not familiar with them at first, explained that after researching, he found that Jarvis’s work with AI and robotics aligns with the government’s goals, particularly in the areas of youth development, innovation, and technology.

Berewa made it clear that the government did not fund the visit. “It’s not true that government brought Jarvis and gave her $52,000,” Berewa said. “We just helped with things like security, visas, and making sure the visit went smoothly. We didn’t give out cash.”

He also mentioned that Gbamgbaode received approval from the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education to visit schools. The United Nations Women joined the initiative to use the platform to raise awareness about how children can report harassment.

Finally, Berewa said, “Even if I knew how much Gbamgbaode spent, I’m not the one to say. But I can tell you it wasn’t $52,000.”
