The Late ASP Mathew Moiwah Gbanya, who was shot dead by an unknown gunman in Makeni, Northern part of Sierra Leone had been very instrumental in the peace and non-violence campaign rolled out by the Sierra Leone Police ahead of the 24 June general elections.

In a video making rounds on social media, he was seen addressing citizens during the voters registration exercise on non-violence and building good relationship between the SLP and the public.

‘’The police force is against all forms of  violence, the time to intimidate people and treat them harshly has long gone as we don’t want to see that anymore. The police is not an enemy or a devil to the civilians, there is no need to see the police as enemy. If only you work within the armpit of the law there is no need to see a police officer and become afraid,’’ he said.
