A five years old girls is reported to have allegedly being raped by her teacher at a school compound in Goderich on Thursday 17 February, 2022.

According to Umaru Fofana of the BBC, the five years old girl has been bleeding since she was raped. “She’s five years old. Raped by an adult. Allegedly her teacher. At the school compound. At Goderich,” he stated.

Fofana noted that the mother of the girl was left confused, and went to a police station.

The mother noted that the Police didn’t move in, adding that they rather gave them a medical paper to see a doctor, saying the medical report would lead to action.

“No health facility equipped for such in the area. On Friday she piled pressure on a community mobilizer, Sam. That mobilizer tried to reach me. Didn’t have my number. Was smart enough to send me message via Facebook Messenger. I saw it on Saturday morning. Arranged for the mum to take her child to the Rainbo Center, a privately run medical facility for victims of sexual violence,” Umaru Fofanah explained.

He noted that the facility was closed on weekends, but Dr Claudius Cole, the lead at the Rainbo Center, was kind enough to take her into her private clinic after his call, and the girl was treated.

“Poor girl is still in a serious condition. I turned to the police leadership and asked why no arrests,” Fofanah stated.

He however noted that the Director of Crime Services, Fayia Sellu was livid, and ordered his officers to effect arrest immediately.

“Suspect was nabbed today. In police custody. Victim’s mum is shell shocked, that this could happen to her daughter,” he added.
