A joint security team comprising officers of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and personnel of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has arrested a Guinean national at the Mile 38 Checkpoint in the Masaka Division for alleged possession of suspected kush.
The operation, led by Superintendent Foday Sorie Fofanah, resulted in the arrest of Ibrahim Sorie Camara on Thursday, 19 February 2026, during a routine stop-and-search exercise.
According to police reports, officers discovered a quantity of suspected kush concealed in the boot (trunk) of a vehicle bearing a Guinea registration number AZ 8886, which the suspect was driving at the time of the interception.
Camara reportedly identified himself as the Drivers’ Union Chairman for vehicles operating between Guinea and Sierra Leone at Madina Park, Guinea. He allegedly transported the suspected substance from Guinea en route to Freetown before being intercepted at the Mile 38 Checkpoint.
The suspect, along with the recovered exhibits, has since been transferred to the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) Headquarters to assist with ongoing investigations.
