Chief Administrator Madam Hawa T. Coomber has spearheaded the transformative Clean Kambia Movement, dedicated to enhancing hygiene and environmental sustainability throughout Kambia District.
This initiative aims to revitalize the community’s commitment to cleanliness and ecological responsibility, inspiring residents to take action in preserving their environment.
With strong backing from KaDDRO, this initiative has rallied a diverse coalition of Kambia’s most active social organizations, including the Civil Society Movement, Youth Council, Kambia District Women’s Unite Network, Community of Best Practices (COP), Clean Kambia Initiative Team, and the Traders Union.
Wearing vibrant uniforms symbolizing their dedication, these social groups came together under Madam Coomber’s guidance to breathe new life into Kambia. They flooded the streets, markets, and public areas, engaging in a comprehensive cleanup effort that aimed to reimagine Kambia as a cleaner and healthier community for everyone.
As the cleanup concluded, Madam Hawa T. Coomber held a debriefing session to reflect on the day’s accomplishments. During this meeting, she commended the volunteers for their tireless efforts, discussing strategies to maintain momentum for future activities. She emphasized her long-term vision for sustainability, underlining the necessity of ongoing efforts to keep Kambia’s environment pristine.
KaDDRO, represented by its leadership, reiterated their commitment to supporting these hygiene initiatives and contributing to climate change mitigation, aligning their objectives with the community’s aspirations for a sustainable future.
Madam Aminata Turay, Chairperson of the Civil Society Movement, spoke on behalf of the participating social groups, affirming their dedication to “own” the Clean Kambia Movement as a permanent initiative to safeguard the cleanliness and beauty of Kambia for generations.
