Reality TV star Hawa Madiana Hunt, known for her role in the “House of Stars” show, has been denied bail as her trial continues for allegedly insulting President Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Fatima Jabbie Bio on social media.
The incident took a significant turn when a video, central to the prosecution’s case, was deemed admissible and played in court, despite attempts by Hunt’s defense counsel to exclude it.
On January 15, 2025, the court session featured testimonies from key witnesses, including Paul Alicious Moseray, who recounted the discovery of the video on December 20, 2024.
The video allegedly showed Hunt making derogatory remarks about the President and the First Lady, leading to her arrest two days later by a police team led by Detective Inspector Amos Mohamed Lansana.
Magistrate Bangura, overseeing the case, highlighted the seriousness of the charges, resulting in the denial of bail and the remand of Hunt until the next court date on January 17, 2025. The defense, led by Rashid Dumbuya, indicated plans to file a no-case submission in the upcoming hearing.
Police reports state that between April 1 and April 30, 2024, Hunt used her Facebook account to post messages that were allegedly insulting and defamatory toward the First Family. These actions have led to two counts of sending insulting messages via a computer system under the Cyber Security and Crime Act No. 7 of 2021.
The unfolding legal battle has cast uncertainty over Hunt’s future, with her once-promising career in reality TV now overshadowed by the pending outcome of her trial.
Let her face the music en be an example to others.
May God almighty destroy those generations of amarikites from our nation. Why are you urging our president to consider unremoursful abusers to forgive them. They intentionally mean what they said. Let the states law deals with them. And they will never learn from their punishments. Trust me, as soon as they are out, they will abuse more than ever. Their parents never trained and blessed them.
