The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Waterloo Police Division is actively probing a troubling incident involving the unlawful discharge of a firearm in Kobba Water village.

The incident resulted in grievous bodily harm to village Headman Alimamy Sesay on the morning of Tuesday, October 15th 2024, at approximately 9:00 AM.

According to reports, Abu Bakarr Kamara alerted authorities after Alimamy Sesay was allegedly shot in the left foot by Osman Kamara, the suspected shooter, using an antiquated, locally made shotgun.

In a statement during a closed interview, Osman Kamara revealed that he purchased the firearm, along with seven rounds of ammunition, from a hunter in the vicinity of Magbosi and the Mathoir Highway back in 2020. He further stated that he had informed Sesay of his intention to sell the weapon days prior to the incident. During a negotiation over the price, while demonstrating its operation, Osman Kamara inadvertently pulled the trigger, resulting in the injury of the intended buyer, Alimamy Sesay.

Currently, Alimamy Sesay is undergoing medical treatment for his injuries, and the police has seized the firearm as evidence. Osman Kamara remains in police custody and is cooperating with investigators.
