A man has been sentenced to ten years in prison for house breaking and larceny by High Court Judge, Honorable Justice Manuela AJ Harding.

The convict, Justice Jusu Kallon, faced a two-count indictment contrary to Section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act, 1916.

According to the court charges, Justice Kallon unlawfully entered the dwelling house of Josephus Choe Junior Mamie at W7 Spur Loop in Freetown, stealing various items including perfume, t-shirts, a solar light, bags, trousers, a Bluetooth speaker, 200 Leones in cash, and a wristwatch.

Representing the State, AT Rogers requested a trial by judge alone, which was granted without objection. Kallon pleaded guilty to the charges and begged for mercy during the proceedings.

In her judgment, Justice Harding sentenced Kallon to five years for each count, to be served concurrently. She emphasized that the conviction serves as a deterrent for both the accused and potential future offenders.

Additionally, the judge ordered the accused to pay Twenty Thousand Leones (Le. 20,000) as compensation to the complainant, along with restitution of the stolen items or their monetary value.
