A fully grown leopard has been killed by a hunter in Kulor Saradu Chiefdom, Falaba District.

This comes after similar occurrences in the Koinadugo District in 2019 and 2022, highlighting a growing concern for the declining leopard population in Sierra Leone.

The killing of these protected animals not only poses a threat to human life but also has severe implications for the country’s tourism industry. In 2022, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Tourism emphasized the criminal nature of such acts and called for alternative methods of handling these animals, such as tranquilization or government capture.
