IMATT College in Sierra Leone has announced that Dr. Prisca Ndu, a renowned social impact advocate and multi-sector entrepreneur, will deliver the keynote address at an upcoming public lecture.
The lecture, titled “Examining the Effectiveness of Enforcement Mechanisms for International Arbitral Awards,” is set to take place on November 14, 2024, at 5 PM on the IMATT College Kingtom Campus in Freetown.
This event aims to bring together students, academics, and industry professionals to explore the importance of international arbitration in the world of global trade.
Dr. Ndu, the Executive Vice Chairman of Nigeria’s INDECO Group, will offer her insights into the challenges and opportunities of enforcing international arbitral awards under the 1958 New York Convention and other legal frameworks.
Given her vast experience leading development projects across sectors such as education, technology, agriculture, energy, real estate, and more, her perspective on arbitration’s role in fostering economic growth is highly anticipated.
In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Ndu has an impressive academic background, holding degrees from the University of Ibadan, Harvard Business School, INSEAD, and other prestigious institutions. She was recognized by the United Nations in 2013 as one of the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) under 40 for her contributions to Africa’s development.
At the lecture, Dr. Ndu will dive into jurisdictional enforcement case studies, including examples from Nigeria and the United States, to discuss the effectiveness of international arbitration as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
This is a crucial subject, especially for global commerce, as the enforcement of arbitral awards remains a significant issue.
IMATT College is thrilled to offer this invaluable learning opportunity and invites all attendees to benefit from Dr. Ndu’s expertise and engage with thought leaders shaping Africa’s economic and legal landscape.
