The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah has launched the Media Gender Policy of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ)

The launching took place on the 9th September 2023 during SLAJ’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kenema, Eastern Sierra Leone.

The progressive policy recommends an affirmative action and has numerous provisions on pay equity, access to resources, tackling sexual and gender based violence among others.

The launch in the presence of several media owners, activists and practitioners from all over the country that are members of SLAJ.

Minister Bah expressed appreciation over the policy and maintained that he served on the Gender Advisory Group of the Association before his appointment as Minister of Information and Civic Education adding that, this is a great step towards the right direction for the future of the country.

“As I told the AGM, I’m proud to have served on the gender advisory group of SLAJ (before my appointment) that produced the policy under the leadership of Dr. Williette James. Sierra Leone takes another positive step forward!” he stated.
