Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed ”Omodu’‘ Kamara, widely known as Jagaban and a leading flagbearer aspirant of the All-People’s Congress (APC), has extended support to victims of the recent ECOWAS Street fire while renewing calls for justice for unpaid teachers and nurses across Sierra Leone.
On February 9, 2026, Jagaban visited the devastated ECOWAS Street market in Freetown, where a fire outbreak left traders counting heavy losses. Moving through the charred remains of stalls and shops, he spoke with affected business owners and assessed the scale of destruction firsthand. His presence attracted large crowds of residents and youths, many of whom gathered to express appreciation for the visit.
Addressing the victims, Jagaban offered words of comfort and solidarity. He acknowledged the emotional and financial toll of the tragedy, encouraging traders not to lose hope. He stressed the importance of unity and community support in rebuilding livelihoods disrupted by the blaze.
Community representative Alie Bangura briefed Jagaban on the challenges facing victims, including the loss of goods, capital, and daily income. Several traders described the fire as a major setback but expressed optimism that with support, they would recover.

A day later, on February 10, Jagaban met with members of the Association of Non-Pin Coders Teachers and Nurses at his Malta Street office. Led by National Coordinator Abdul Kabia, the delegation highlighted the situation of more than 2,000 educators and healthcare workers who claim to have served for years without being placed on the government payroll.
Speaking on behalf of the nurses, Mrs. Hawa Sesay outlined the daily struggles of providing essential services without financial stability, noting the strain on families and morale within the sector.
In response, Jagaban assured the group that their concerns would not be ignored. He revealed plans to formally launch the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Pin Coders Teachers and Nurses on April 1, 2026, and pledged that efforts would be made to facilitate their inclusion on the payroll following the launch.
During the engagement, Jagaban Movement Spokesman Saidu Gibril “Buzzom” Kamara highlighted several social interventions associated with Jagaban, including transportation support initiatives, solar streetlight installations, and mobility programs aimed at improving access and economic activity nationwide.

Jagaban also used the occasion to urge APC supporters to remain active at the grassroots level, describing the 2028 general elections as a pivotal moment for the country’s direction. He emphasized unity within the party and sustained commitment to national development. His recent engagements, combining immediate humanitarian outreach with promises of structural reform, signal a campaign message centered on social welfare, economic recovery, and institutional inclusion
