Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has reaffirmed the country’s longstanding tradition of religious tolerance, emphasizing the spirit of unity during the holy month of Ramadan.

Observing his first Ramadan Jumah prayer at the Masjid Muhagireen in the Kroo Bay community, VP Jalloh urged the Muslim Ummah to use this sacred period for reflection on their collective role in fostering peace and national development.

“I used the occasion to implore the Ummah to use this time to reflect on the role that each of us play in fostering peace, unity, and progress in our nation,” he stated, reinforcing Sierra Leone’s reputation as a model of peaceful religious coexistence.

He highlighted the unique religious harmony in the country, noting that both Muslims and Christians observe fasting during this period. He encouraged citizens to embrace their shared values and focus on the principles that unite them.

“I reminded them that as our Christian brothers and sisters also undertake this period of fasting and reflection, we must focus on the factors that unite us as a people, especially our desire for a peaceful and prosperous Sierra Leone,” he added.

VP Jalloh’s remarks align with the government’s broader efforts, under President Julius Maada Bio’s leadership, to strengthen religious harmony as a core pillar of national unity.

His engagement with the Kroo Bay community during Ramadan highlights the administration’s commitment to inclusivity, peace, and collective progress, reinforcing the country’s global recognition for interfaith coexistence.
