A suspended member of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Chief Abdul Kadiru Kaikai, has expressed his continued support for President Julius Maada Bio while raising critical concerns regarding political interference in key national institutions.

In a letter openly addressed to the President, Kaikai emphasized the need for President Bio to act decisively to protect the integrity of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which he believes are being undermined by powerful individuals.

He stated that such pressures erode public trust, weaken the rule of law, and hinder national development. He revealed that powerful individuals are influencing the NRA’s ability to enforce tax compliance, which threatens the President’s legacy and the future of Sierra Leone.

The former SLPP member’s suspension letter came in the wake of a controversial video he released previously, in which he threatened to incite violence if he was not elected President in 2028.

President Bio responded to those remarks by clarifying that Kaikai’s statements do not reflect the party’s values and announced his suspension from the SLPP. “The Party will scrutinize him and recommend if he still deserves to continue being an SLPP Party member,” Bio stated, reinforcing that the authority to choose the next party leader lies solely with the SLPP.

Despite the tensions, Kaikai expressed his belief in President Bio’s leadership and urged him to maintain momentum in his reform efforts. He cautioned that even a brief pause in action could jeopardize years of progress. He implored that the president lead with integrity, defend institutional autonomy, and secure a legacy of real progress, highlighting the importance of accountability among ministers and public servants.

Kaikai also affirmed the urgent needs of the Sierra Leonean people, stating, “They are not demanding miracles; they want jobs, food, security, and opportunities. They want real, visible change, not empty promises.” He reiterated that many citizens still believe in the President’s vision and would support him again if he fulfills his commitments.

In closing, Kaikai offered a powerful message to the President stating, “Be bold. Be relentless. Be remembered.” He concluded with a prayer for the nation, reflecting a sincere appeal rooted in hope for a better future.
