Kamajei Chiefdom in Moyamba District on Saturday 3rd January, 2026 officially inaugurated a new Chiefdom Speaker, Madam Elsie Kondolomoh, following the death of the former speaker, Madam Rachel.
Madam Kondolomoh was appointed by the Paramount Chief of Kamajei Chiefdom, PC Sundufu Sovula Brima II, marking the third Chiefdom Speaker appointed under his reign. The colourful inauguration ceremony was held at the UMC Primary School Field in Senehun Town, the chiefdom headquarters and attracted a large gathering of traditional leaders, government officials, political figures, and members of the public from across the country.
The event was attended by 11 Paramount Chiefs, all from the South-Eastern region of Sierra Leone, as well as Mammy Queens and female societal heads from the four districts. Other notable personalities included PC Russell, Chairman of the Moyamba District Paramount Chiefs Council; Dr. Prince Harding, former Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP); and many other distinguished guests.
The ceremony was chaired by Chief Ernest Bamba Ndomahina, Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA).
Delivering the keynote address, Her Excellency Fatima Bio, First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, served as the guest speaker. In her statement, she commended PC Sovula II for entrusting such an influential traditional leadership position to a woman. She encouraged other Paramount Chiefs across the country to emulate this example by promoting women into traditional leadership roles, in line with the vision of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, whom she said has consistently demonstrated commitment to putting women first.
The First Lady further urged citizens to continue placing their trust in the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and its governance agenda.
The certificate of appointment was formally presented to Madam Elsie Kondolomoh by the District Officer of Moyamba District, Mr. Harun Turay, officially confirming her position as Chiefdom Speaker.
The ceremony was climaxed with traditional cultural dances, songs, and other forms of merriment, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Kamajei Chiefdom and marking a joyful beginning to the new speaker’s tenure.
