Magistrate George B. Samia has sentenced one Mohamed Korombo Turay to five years imprisonment or pay a fine of three million old Leone’s for possession of wraps of Kush.
According to the police, Turay was arrested with two hundred and twenty six (226) clinical plastic packets containing dried green leaves substances suspected to be kush at Madamaya Police Check Point in Gbinleh Chiefdom, Kambia District on August 31 this year.
The accused pleaded guilty to the offence in court prompting the magistrate to hand out his sentence and or fine.
In another news, one Mohamed Kamara also pleaded guilty before Magistrate George to possession of unlicensed shotgun.
Kamara was arrested on Sunday, August 28 at Samuya Village in Samu Chiefdom, Kambia District.
Magistrate George remanded the accused awaiting judgment at his next appearance on the 11th September 2023.
