Former Leone Stars Striker, Kei Kamara, has raised his voice on the issue of airfare and airport fees, questioning the necessity of additional fees at the airport, given the taxes already included in flight tickets.
In a statement released, Kamara clarified that he is not criticizing anyone for wrong reasons but is rather empathizing with the frustration felt by many Sierra Leoneans who have been vocal about the situation.
He expressed his concern, saying, “Please this is not a fight or bashing anyone, I just want to understand and I feel for everyone complaining about airfare/airport fees too. Everyone saves up and looks forward to this travel at the end of the year to go celebrate with family and spend money in the country meaningfully. I really don’t like see or hearing people are preferring to travel to neighboring countries and driving over to Salone.”
Kei Kamara also pointed out his discomfort with the fact that some people are opting to travel neighboring countries and then driving over to Sierra Leone due to these issues. His remarks shed light on the challenges faced by travelers and the need for transparency and clarity in airport fees and taxes.
Sure this situation of airport fees is killing people. All taxes are included in the tickets. But yet we pay extra fees too.
So what was the response from the question
That we want to hear?
For a Family of 4 heading to Freetown to stay with other family members this Christmas .. 👇🏽
Nah Wah oh🙆🏽♀️
I’ll rather go to Jamaica 🇯🇲, New York, Spain, Portugal or a cruise.
Flight tickets to FNA= £1,750×4(family of 4)=£7,000
Airport taxes coming and going $50×4=$200 Airport taxes soon to increase to $165 per person
Sea coach crossing coming and going $90×4=$360
Total without shipping and holiday money = £7,000+$560
A family of four will need £10,000 that’s NLE 270,000 to have a good holiday in Freetown this December…

How do they expect us to see our family. We just don’t want to come when we get a call to say they’re gone.
