A Kekeh rider, Santigie Fofonah on Tuesday 6th June 2023 was remanded at the Male Correctional Center in Freetown after he made his appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No.3 for allegedly beating a police officer.
Santigie Fofonah is standing on two counts charges of Assault on a police contrary to section 39 of the Police Act No.7 of 1964 and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Persons Act of 1861.
According to the charge sheet on count 1, it was alleged that the accused Santigie Fofanah on Monday 29th May 2023, at PZ, Freetown, assaulted Police Constable 17205 Samuel Ganda, whilst executing his duty.
Count 2 states that the accused on the same date and place assaulted Police Constable 17205 in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
The accused Santigie Fofonah, was legally unrepresented thus no plea was taken, after the charge was read and explained to him.
Magistrate Santigie Bangura remanded the accused Santigie Bangura to the male correctional center in Freetown and the matter was adjourned to 9th June 2023.
