The Kenema Sowei Council and Mammy Queens have expressed deep appreciation to Her Excellency, the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, for her commitment to preserving and promoting the country’s cultural heritage.
During a courtesy visit, members of the Council lauded the First Lady for her consistent efforts to uphold traditions that recognize and protect women’s cultural identity. They commended her for the respect, visibility, and recognition she has given the Sowei institution and its leadership, describing her as a strong ally of indigenous culture.
The Council noted that Dr. Fatima Bio’s advocacy has restored dignity to traditional institutions while ensuring that cultural practices are celebrated in ways that align with national values and development goals.
