In their quest to combat drug-related crimes and ensure public safety, the Magistrate Court No. 2 in Kenema City officially incinerated a substantial quantity of illegal substances on January 27, 2025, following the completion of legal proceedings.
According to the Head of Registry at the Kenema High Court, Mr. Sheku Kemoh Mansaray, approximately 400 kilograms of Jamba and Kush were burned in accordance with a court directive based on legal grounds.
He stated that the harmful substances were seized at various checkpoints and other locations within the township of Kenema by police officers and had subsequently gone through court proceedings presided over by Magistrate Brima Jah, with punishments concurrently imposed on the offenders.
Mr. Mansaray noted that the incineration process was conducted under strict supervision by law enforcement officials and representatives from the court, including the press, the Bike Riders Union (BRU), and other stakeholders.
In an interview with the Acting Head of the Legal and Justice Department of the Kenema Division, Inspector Alphan S. Musa, he stated that the event marks a decisive step in the judicial system’s ongoing efforts to eliminate drugs from the community and send a strong message to offenders.
He thanked Magistrate Brima Jah for presiding over the case and emphasized that the importance of their actions was not just to destroy physical substances, but also to send a strong message that the legal system is committed to upholding the law and protecting the public.
