In a startling revelation, the Kori Chiefdom Bike Riders Union Executives, including Chairperson Mr. Edison Mattia (“40ft”) and Secretary General Mr. Sidie Massaquoi, have been taken into police custody over alleged misappropriation of union funds.
The investigations, initiated in November 2023 and concluded on December 12, 2024, reveal financial mismanagement and lack of accountability.
The probe stems from grievances filed by union members, asserting that ten motorbikes donated during the President’s thank-you tour in June 2023 have been mishandled. Shockingly, no proper financial records have been provided by the executive committee since the bikes’ acquisition.
The investigative committee, led by honorable RTD Captain Sylvester A.M Boima, Chief Peter Yambasu, Councilor Ernest N. Sama, and Christopher Morovia, discovered that over Nle100,000 meant for union operations had allegedly been diverted for personal use by the executives
Despite the bike riders raising over Nle73,000 from the operation of the ten bikes, only Nle2,750.00 remained in the Union account at Taiama Community Bank. In response, the committee handed over the implicated chairperson and secretary to the Taiama police station on December 12th for further investigations.
The Kori Chiefdom Bike Riders Union members are now clamoring for transparency, accountability, and justice. Authorities are expected to continue investigations to uncover the full extent of the alleged misappropriation. Stay tuned for updates as this unfolding scandal continues to grip the community.
It’s actually January 12th 2024 instead of December,, I think that would be typo..
Freetown bike riders union, chairman or executives have to be investigated for tickets sold everyday and fines paid by bike riders, they need to provide records of money collected by struggling bike riders or simply tell us how the money is spent, the money should be spent in the interest of the betterment of all involved
The chair man and his secretary have been bailed from the police station without no good information to we the riders
This second comment make a lot of sense
