According to a report from the Sierra Leone Police, the East-end Police Division in Freetown is investigating the alleged murder of a 19-year-old kush smoker Joseph Wusu Kabia.
It was reported that Joseph was allegedly beaten to death at the Fen-Fen Corner Community between Fourah Bay Road and Guard Street on Thursday 29th February 2024.
Father of the deceased, Joseph Wusu Kabia while explaining in tears noted that he last saw his son three days before he was informed that his son had been killed. He continued that based on the information he received, the Chairman together with the Chairlady of that community organized a team of boys to bathe all “filthy Kush smokers” forcefully and to be beaten if they resisted.
Information Officer of the East End Police Division, Inspector Alimamy Ahmed Deen Conteh has confirmed that the remains of the late man have been conveyed to the Connaught mortuary for autopsy examination and that the matter is under investigation.
He called on community people to refrain from the act of beating “Kush smokers” stating that is not the appropriate measure. He also urged community stakeholders to partner with the police in sensitizing the youth to abstain from the use of harmful drugs, especially ‘Kush.”
