A man identified as Yusuf Kamara sustained a broken leg after jumping from a three-storey building in an attempt to escape a police raid along Lumley Beach Road in Freetown.

The operation, conducted on Tuesday, 17 November 2025, formed part of a nationwide crackdown on kush and other harmful substances.

Following the incident, police officers secured the scene, rendered first aid, and transported Kamara to the hospital for treatment. He was later taken into custody for questioning as investigations continue.

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) reaffirmed its commitment to tackling drug abuse and safeguarding communities, noting that all suspects will receive appropriate medical attention and due process in line with the law.

The public is encouraged to support the ongoing “Say No to Kush” campaign and to report any drug-related activities to the nearest police station.
