A resident of Pademba Road in the Belliar Community, Duwazark, is seeking urgent medical support after he was allegedly stabbed by a suspected drug abuser during an attempt to discourage the use of kush and tramadol within the area.
According to the victim, Sahr Charles Stevens, the incident occurred when he and a few other community members decided to confront a group of young men who frequently gather in the neighbourhood to smoke kush.
Charles said the persistent presence of drug users has created fear and discomfort, especially among elderly residents, as police raids in the area often cause panic.
“We went there to talk to them and advise them to leave our community and go elsewhere,” Charles explained. “Instead of listening, they challenged us. Suddenly, a guy called Malcon, who lives in Duwazark, stabbed me on my neck and hand.”

Charles further stated that he did not previously know the attacker. He emphasized that their intention was not to provoke violence but to protect the community from the growing drug menace.
He described the confrontation as part of a broader fight against kush a destructive synthetic drug that continues to wreak havoc across Sierra Leone. His condition, he added, is worsening and he is appealing to the public, authorities, and relevant organizations for support.
Sahr Charles is calling this incident a wake-up call to all Sierra Leoneans to stand together against the spread of kush and other harmful substances threatening the wellbeing of communities across the country.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
