Victoria Ugoji, a resident of Sierra Leone, has initiated a heartfelt social media search for the family of her late father, Philip Ugoji, who fled Nigeria during the Nigeria-Biafra civil war at the age of 11.
In a heartfelt appeal shared on social media, Victoria narrates the story of her father’s journey and seeks help in connecting with his relatives in Nigeria.
According to Victoria, her father migrated to Sierra Leone with his uncle during the Nigeria-Biafra war, and the uncle later became a lecturer at the Fouray Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. However, her father was left behind in Sierra Leone when the uncle returned to Nigeria after the war. Tragically, Philip Ugoji passed away when Victoria was only 14 years old, and her mother has limited information about his family in Nigeria.
Victoria shared details about her father’s siblings, named Rowland and Ebere Ugoji, and pleaded for assistance in locating them. She provided additional information, including a postcode of the school her father attended in Nigeria, where he used to send letters to his brother.
The appeal, shared by @von_Bismack on social media, includes a picture of Philip Ugoji and a heartfelt message from Victoria expressing her desire to reconnect with her paternal family.
Her post reads;
“I’m Victoria Ugoji from Sierra Leone. My late father Philip Ugoji fled the Biafra war in Nigeria and moved to Sierra Leone with his uncle when he was only 11 years old. “His uncle who brought him to Sierra Leone, later became a lecturer at the Fouray Bay College, university of Sierra Leone
“His uncle returned to Nigeria after the war but left my dad behind. He married my mum and they gave birth to two of us, myself and my brother Victor. My dad unfortunately died when I was only 14 years old. My mum did not know much about him so I couldn’t get more information about his family in Nigeria.
“The only information I got from Nigeria is a post code of the school he attended as he used to send letters to his brother. Some names of his siblings were Rowland and Ebere Ugoji. I will really Appreciate if you can help me find my dad’s family as I know no one from my paternal side. Thank you and God bless you
