Popular rapper Alhaji Amadu Bah, known as LAJ, has been remanded in custody until April 14, 2026, following his appearance at the Bo Magistrate Court.

The case, which has drawn significant public attention, was adjourned to allow proceedings to continue. Supporters and the broader community are closely monitoring developments.

On April 2, 2026, Magistrate Samuel James Braima of Magistrate’s Court No. 2 in Bo City initially remanded LAJ and Ibrahim Koroma, also known as Prezo Koroma, at the Bo Correctional Centre on allegations of cyberbullying and insulting conduct.

The two were arraigned on three counts under Sections 44(1)(b) and 44(2) of the Cyber Security and Crime Act, 2021. Prosecutors alleged that on March 21, 2026, in Bo City, the accused caused a video to be circulated on social media with intent to insult the complainant and cause him unnecessary anxiety. The prosecution further alleged that LAJ referred to the Mayor of Kenema City, Thomas Baio, as a “bastard child.”

During their initial court appearance, both defendants failed to appear, leading to the issuance of a bench warrant following an application by the complainant’s counsel.

In a later hearing, Defence Counsel Madieu Sesay Esq. raised preliminary objections, arguing that the particulars of offence for the three counts were at variance with the statements of offence, and that the defendants were not personally served as required by the Criminal Procedure Act 2024.

Prosecution Lead Counsel Monya Sheriff Esq. countered that the preliminary objections were out of order, stating that the information was properly before the court under the Criminal Procedure Act 2024.

Magistrate Braima withdrew the file for ruling and ordered the remand of both defendants pending the determination of the objections. The matter, originally adjourned to April 8, has now been further postponed to April 14, 2026.
