Miss Edwina Hawa Jamiru, a 19-year-old second-year law student at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, has made explosive allegations against Justice Momoh Jah Stevens, a senior judge at the Sierra Leone High Court.

In a video circulated on a WhatsApp group, Jamiru accused Justice Stevens of engaging in a long-term romantic relationship with her, impregnating her, and subsequently abandoning her and their unborn child.

In her statement, Jamiru described their relationship as one of trust and intimacy, alleging that the judge exploited her under the guise of a loving relationship. “We were lovers, boyfriend and girlfriend, and we had been together for years. I thought he was a responsible man because of his position as a judge, but he used me for his sexual pleasure,” she said in the video.

Jamiru claimed the relationship began at City Hall, where she and Justice Stevens would frequently meet. She said she was drawn to him because of his outward appearance of responsibility, adding that his respected position within the judiciary misled her into believing he would act honorably.

Now a young law student aspiring to uphold justice, Jamiru expressed her dismay over the alleged actions of someone she considered a role model. “As a woman of justice and truth, I have always believed in the judiciary as a symbol of hope. It is heartbreaking that men like Justice Stevens are part of it,” she stated.

Jamiru further alleged that when she informed Justice Stevens of her pregnancy, he refused to take responsibility. “He told me he never loved me and only used me to satisfy his sexual desires,” she claimed, questioning the integrity of a man tasked with upholding justice.
