The Lawyers’ Society Executive marked the first anniversary of its current tenure with a one-day retreat on 21st February. The event brought together members of the Executive to reflect on the Society’s achievements over the past year, review institutional progress, and plan for the final year of their mandate.
During the retreat, the Executive conducted a comprehensive review of activities undertaken between 21st February 2025 and 20th February 2026. Discussions focused on the Society’s advocacy interventions, public interest engagements, professional development initiatives, social events, stakeholder collaborations, and ongoing commitment to promoting due process, the rule of law, and good governance.
The directors assessed accomplishments against initial objectives, identified operational challenges, and evaluated lessons learned to improve institutional effectiveness. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening internal governance, expanding public outreach, and enhancing the Society’s visibility as a credible and independent voice on legal and constitutional matters.
Following the review, the Executive adopted a detailed Annual Work Plan for the second and final year of its tenure. The plan prioritizes deepening advocacy on the rule of law and constitutionalism, strengthening member engagement and professional capacity building, expanding civic education initiatives, consolidating strategic partnerships, and ensuring sustainable institutional growth.
The retreat reaffirmed the Executive’s commitment to principled leadership, transparency, and service to the legal profession and the broader public. As the Society enters the final year of its current leadership, it does so with renewed focus on achieving its strategic objectives and sustaining public trust.
