A local farmer has been brutally murdered by a thief in a forest at Falawandor, Kamboma Village, in Kono District, allegedly over the theft of cacao beans in the morning hours of Monday, June 30, 2025.

Sources reported that the attack occurred in the early hours when the local farmer was tending to his crops.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the assailant ambushed the victim in the bush, leading to a violent confrontation that ended with the farmer being slaughtered for his cacao harvest.

Following the gruesome act, the suspect fled the scene but was quickly apprehended by authorities in the nearby Mondema community.

This swift capture has provided some relief, but the incident has raised serious concerns about safety among local farmers, who are now urged to remain vigilant in light of the rising violence.
