On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Magistrate Santigie Bangura resumed hearing a case at Court No. 2, Pademba Road, which had previously been adjourned.
The key witness, Alhaji Kabha, who serves as the Operations Manager for Global Aviation, testified, led by State Counsel Yusuf Trade Sesay Esq. Kabha stated that he has worked for the company for 12 to 13 years and is responsible for processing import, export, and transit documents, and clearing goods for the company.
He resides at 151 Hall Road and reports directly to his boss, Ibrahim Bashiru Kamara.
In his testimony, Kabha recounted recognizing the first accused, Hussein Ant, on November 11, 2023, at Waterloo. He also recognized the second accused, Jamal Antar, as the receiver of the container but did not recognize the third accused, Suliaman Barrie. Kabha detailed events between October 1, 2023, and July 29, 2024, stating that he received a delivery order from Kamara containing details of three containers, which he processed at Water Quay, Cline Town.
On November 9, 2023, Kabha went to Boloric to begin processing the containers. The following day, he saw the containers with the label “JTK” ready for scanning at the Quay. After completing the scanning process, he informed Kamara of the results. On November 11, 2023, Customs released the containers, and Kabha was instructed to await further directions from Kamara, who later directed him to transport the containers to Waterloo, Bar Drive, 3 Mile.
During cross-examination by defense counsel I.S.Y. Kamara Esq., medical papers for the accused were presented, but the State Counsel opposed a bail application due to the seriousness of the charges. The bench denied the bail request and ordered that the accused be taken to the medical department of the Correctional Services for treatment.
