The Kenema Young Women Governance Network (KYWGN) is taking proactive steps in response to a tragic incident involving Aminata Kamara, a young woman from Koya.

According to reports, Aminata was sexually assaulted by a man who, after she rejected his advances, attacked her with a machete, brutally injuring her.

In response to the tragedy, members of the Kenema Young Women Governance Network went to the government hospital where Aminata was admitted and tried to get more details from her family member.

The network is also in contact with Aminata’s mother to make sure that the problem is fully understood and treated in a suitable and helpful manner.

“We are committed to ensuring that Aminata, like every young woman, receives the justice she deserves,” said Janneh Baby of the Kenema Young Women Governance Network.

The group said that they will keep working to help Aminata and advocate for her well-being, while also trying to prevent similar situations in the future.

The Kenema Young Women Governance Network, along with the general Young Women Governance Network, has pledged to stand behind Aminata and give her the support she needs at this difficult time.

The network also expressed concern over the large consequences of harassment and sexual assault, explaining the necessity of providing safe and supportive environments in which all young women can succeed.
