An unidentified man was killed on Sunday morning by electrocution in Gbondo Town, Bo District, Southern Sierra Leone.
According to an eyewitness the man came in contact with a live electrical cable which led to a fatal shock.
Both the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) and the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC) are yet to comment on the incident but some eyewitnesses alleged that the unidentified man made an attempt to tamper with the power lines which eventually led to his demise.
Recently, two staff members from EDSA experienced a tragic incident involving electrocution in Kambia, Northern Sierra Leone. While they were conducting maintenance work on an electric pole, the pole unexpectedly collapsed. As a result, one of the staff members sadly lost his life, while the other sustained severe injuries.
While electrocution is rare in rural Sierra Leone, maintenance works on old transmission lines and the installation of new ones put EDSA staff and some locals at risk.
