A 35-year-old man identified to be Ibrahim Bockarie on Wednesday 12th June 2024 is alleged to have killed himself in Benduma village Jawei Chiefdom Kailahun District.
Ibrahim Bockarie in the morning hour of 11:00 am was reportedly found dead in front of a bed, blood sprinkled underneath, his throat chopped off, and a kitchen knife by his side in one of the rooms at his family house in Benduma village Jawei Chiefdom Kailahun District.
The deceased was buried the very day of the incident without postmortem and investigation is ongoing in the Criminal Investigation Department at the Daru Divisional Headquarters in Daru Jawei Chiefdom Kailahun District.
The elder brother of the deceased Chief Lahai Bockarie, acting town chief of Benduma Jawei in an interview with Sierraloaded on the 16th June 2024 disclosed that the deceased left Daru for Benduma on Monday 10th June, 2024. He said the deceased on the same day disorderly disclosed to him that he had been chased by people while harassing him of breaking the bond between himself and them.
“We had a sleepless night on Tuesday while Ibrahim was complaining about his heart. On Wednesday morning we decided to consult an herbalist in Benduma to investigate his strange behaviour, but could not find the herbalist.” Chief Lahai said.
The deceased have spent over six years in Liberia as a diamond miner, but later returned to Sierra Leone for couple of years managing lives somewhere in Tonkia Chiefdom Kenema District. He returned to his home land Benduma sometimes in January, 2024 helping his elder brother chief Lahai with farming activities. He later hooked up with a colleague for a power saw operation. He got injured by the power saw during operations. After medication he had been staying in Daru town for months and finally returned back to Benduma on Monday 10th June, 2024 until death called him.
According to Chief Lahai, Ibrahim got married, but divorced his wife with a kid for several years and could not find their location till date.
