The Magistrate Court in Masiaka has committed Bai Sesay of Makuru Village, Koya Chiefdom, to stand trial in the High Court for alleged burglary, larceny, and malicious damage.

The ruling was delivered on Friday, 21 November 2025, by Magistrate Harold Kamara, who found that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the accused.

According to the charges, on 15 September 2025, Sesay allegedly broke into the dwelling of Kapil Bhurani at Sam Sierra Leone Limited in Manila Village, Koya Chiefdom, with the intent to steal. The stolen items reportedly included:

One blue TVS HLX100 motorbike valued at Le 12,000

Two 150 AMP batteries valued at Le 4,800

Four 80 AMP batteries valued at Le 6,400

Two 72 AMP batteries valued at Le 2,800

Cash of Le 2,500

The total value of the stolen property amounted to Le 28,500. The accused is also charged with malicious damage valued at Le 6,550, including vehicle doors, window glass, and a side glass.

The prosecution, led by Inspector Gibril Kargbo, presented four witnesses:

1. PW1 – Kapil Hiram (Complainant): testified that he rushed to the factory after receiving a distress call and found the accused restrained by security personnel.

2. PW2 – Philip Yamba Conteh (Scene of Crime Officer): confirmed visiting the crime scene and taking 16 photographs showing the damage.

3. PW3 – Factory Administrator: testified that he saw the accused at his door and was attacked through the window.

4. PW4 – Police Investigator, DPC 18542 Kargbo A.B.: tendered the defendant’s voluntary caution statement and charge statement.

Magistrate Kamara noted that the accused’s claim of being forced by unidentified thieves raises issues for trial but does not undermine the prosecution’s prima facie case.

The photographs presented in court depicted extensive damage. Consequently, the accused has been committed to stand trial at the High Court on all counts.
