Scamming in Sierra Leone has become a new phenomenon. Sadly, it is very common and spreading like wildfire among descendants and owners of the very land.

Despite the current issues of inflation and exchange rate depreciation which has triggered a severe cost-of-living crisis, amongst us are youths who’ve risen to suck us dry.

Kai Bockarie Saquee, a Sierra Leonean Communications officer, author and a Facebook influencer, was once targeted by a scam but luckily did not fell prey to the Scammers. He shared his experience on Social Media to alert other Sierra Leoneans of the new scheme Scammers are using to destroy people.

According to Saquee, the con men now targets occasions like funeral ceremonies or birthday celebrations. He said they will contact people who are bereaved or are planning to throw a party and pretend to be a friend or family member and they will offer support.

Speaking about his experience, he disclosed how he was bereaved a week ago and almost got Scammed but was able to escape it.
