On Monday 18th November 2024, at around 10:00 PM, the town chief of Pujuhun village Kori Chiefdom, Moyamba District, Robert Lebbie received a report relating to sexual penetration that involved a ten-year-old girl (name withheld) and her uncle Idrissa Bangura the perpetrator.

According to the report, the victim is living under the same roof as the perpetrator who happens to be the husband of her elder sister.

The victim, a class four pupil of the RC primary school Pujuhun Village explained, “during the absence of my eldest sister, I was called upon by her husband, my uncle into his room and he undressed and sexually penetrated and abused me, I wanted to resist him but he is stronger and healthy than I, expecting such a thing from him was never in my mind, he forcefully get through me, thereafter, with blood flowing from me, I hastily report the matter to my grandmother Mamy Bangura the immediate family member around whom I can reach out to and cry for help after the ugly situation, without delayed she took the matter to the town chief as the custodians of the community for police intervention and the town chief Mr Robert Lebbie promptly called PC-16096 James M. S Kowa to seek his assistant as an officer within their reach.”

“Upon arriving at the village, I saw the victim Mary having blood all over her private part coming down towards her knees and old clothes which the victim used as a pad to cover her female part to control the flow of blood, upon seeing this both the perpetrator Idrissa Bangura and the victim were taken to the FSU Taiama police post, upon our arrival because of the severity of case Sargent Abdul Kawa of the said police station immediately transferred us to the Moyamba police division for further investigation,” PC-16096 James M. S Kowa farm.

The parents Mr George Bangali and Mrs Mattu Bangali of the victim Town Chief Mr. Robert Lebbie and the community people are calling for prompt justice to prevail in this case which will serve as a stern warning to others in the surrounding villages and to avoid recurrence.

The matter is currently with the FSU Moyamba Division for further investigation.
