Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, marked a significant milestone over the weekend as he participated in the symbolic harvesting of rice at his farm in Yemiyah village, Lokomasama.

The event showcased the success of ongoing agricultural initiatives aimed at boosting local food production and creating jobs for the community.

Dr. Jalloh, who has been at the forefront of agricultural development, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his excitement over the impact of a maize cultivation project he launched a few months ago.

The initiative, which focuses on enhancing food security, has already contributed to increasing food production while creating employment opportunities.

Dr. Jalloh noted that the project is a modest but valuable contribution to President Julius Maada Bio’s Feed Salone initiative, a national effort to enhance food security and reduce dependency on imports.

In addition to his farm’s success, the Vice President visited the nearby PC Agriculture Industrial Onion Farm, located just two kilometers from the community.

PC Agriculture has ambitious plans to plant 70 hectares of onions this year, providing jobs for 65 permanent and 200 seasonal workers.

This expansion aligns with the broader objectives of the Feed Salone initiative, which is gaining momentum and reshaping the country’s approach to food production.

Dr. Jalloh’s efforts in the agricultural sector reflect his commitment to promoting sustainable food security solutions and supporting President Bio’s vision of transforming Sierra Leone into a self-sufficient nation in terms of food production.

The Vice President’s ongoing agricultural projects are playing a key role in the country’s development, particularly in rural areas where such initiatives are crucial for economic growth and job creation.
