In his inaugural meeting with departmental heads and agency leaders under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, newly appointed Minister Rtd AIG Morie Lengor Esq. unveiled his ambitious vision to establish Sierra Leone as a global leader in peace and safety.
Expressing his gratitude to President Julius Maada Bio for the opportunity to serve in this critical role, Minister Lengor emphasized the importance of the meeting, both in being introduced to department heads and in articulating his aspirations for the ministry.
“My vision is to make this country the most peaceful and safest place in the world,” he stated, highlighting that creating a secure environment is pivotal for stimulating business growth and promoting economic development.
To enhance the efficacy of government operations, Minister Lengor underscored the necessity for well-defined roles and responsibilities among various departments and agencies. This strategy aims to eliminate overlaps and ensure each entity functions effectively within its designated scope.
He further urged a culture of collaboration among departmental leaders, stressing that collective efforts are essential to achieve common goals and improve living conditions nationwide.
As he introduced Minister Lengor, Senior Technical Adviser Rtd AIG Amadu Mannah reflected on their successful previous partnership within the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), praising Lengor for his principled leadership and commitment to transparency, integrity, and discipline.
Attendees expressed optimism about the ministry’s future direction under Minister Lengor’s leadership. Mohamed Mubashir Massaquoi, Director General of the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA), commended the new minister’s integrity and reiterated the significance of teamwork in fulfilling their objectives.
On behalf of his fellow department heads, Inspector General of Police Mr. William Fayia Sellu took a moment to recognize the contributions of the outgoing minister, Rtd Brig David T.O. Taluva, who was unable to attend the meeting. He reflected positively on their collaborative work and extended best wishes to both Taluva and Minister Lengor as they embark on their new paths.
