Joseph Munda Bindi, the newly appointed Chairman of the National Council for Civic Education and Democracy (NaCCED), along with a cross-section of his team, paid a courtesy call on the Chief Electoral Commissioner at the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) headquarters on Tower Hill, Freetown, on Friday, 7th February 2025.
During the visit, the Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman, Mohamed Konneh, congratulated Chairman Bindi on his appointment. Konneh endorsed the strong and positive relationship between ECSL and NaCCED while also endorsing the strong relationship that has existed between the two institutions.
The ECSL Commissioner also praised the leadership of the outgoing Chairman, Kalilu Totangi for his contribution to NaCCED. Konneh further encouraged Chairman Bindi to continue fostering the good working relationship that has benefitted both institutions.
Chairman Bindi also highlighted the importance of the collaboration between NaCCED and ECSL. He brought attention to key areas of cooperation, especially in election-related activities, and referenced the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions. He suggested reviewing and updating the MOU to reflect current trends. Chairman Bindi also discussed the need to engage with the Tripartite recommendations to further strengthen the partnership and enhance democratic processes in Sierra Leone.
