The Ministry of Agriculture recently announced the appointment of Madam Lucy Koker as the new District Agriculture Officer (DAO) for Pujehun District.

She assumes the role previously held by Alex Fissan, who has been promoted to oversee the Rice Cluster Project for Gbondapi and Toma Bum Rice Project.

The official handover ceremony took place at the Ministry’s office on Agriculture Road, where Director Fissan expressed gratitude for his tenure of over three years without any issues. He stressed the importance of supporting the incoming DAO to further enhance the district’s development. Additionally, Director Fissan outlined his commitment to overseeing feed saloon projects under his new role.

Peter Massaquoi, the Pujehun District Coordinator of the National Federation of Farmers, commended Fissan’s successful stewardship and urged him to continue supporting the newly appointed DAO, Madam Lucy Koker. Massaquoi assured the ministry of the local farmers’ unwavering support for agricultural initiatives in the district.

Madam Lucy Koker, upon receiving the handover note, thanked the ministry staff for their efforts in maintaining office operations smoothly. With prior experience in implementing ministry projects, she expressed determination to deliver tangible outcomes in her new capacity. Notably, Madam Koker highlighted her historic appointment as the first female District Agriculture Officer in the country, underscoring its significance for the ministry.

The ceremony concluded with the exchange of handover notes and a facility tour, symbolizing the transition of leadership and the commitment to ongoing agricultural development in Pujehun District.
