The Western Area Rural District Council Ward C has announced a new entry fee for the River Number 2 Beach in Sierra Leone.

According to the local council, the beach entry fee, previously set at NLe20 will now go for NLe30.

No reason was given for the increment. However, the council mentioned that the decision falls under its mandate to mobilize and oversee beaches in the region.

River No. 2 Beach is a popular beach in Sierra Leone and a favorite tourist destination located on Whale Bay, south of Freetown. It’s surrounded by mangroves and palm trees.

The introduction of this fee has sparked concerns regarding the poor road network leading to the beach.

Despite these concerns, many believe that the entry fee is essential for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation at the beach. Additionally, it aims to provide security for visitors while supporting the beach community and sustaining beach operations.
