The National Public Health Agency (NPHA) in partnership with the Ministry of Health has celebrated the graduation of Cohort 17 Frontline and Cohort 8 Intermediate participants of the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP).
The ceremony, held at the Atlantic Hotel in Lumley, marked the achievement of professionals who have undergone months of intensive training in disease surveillance, outbreak response, and field investigations.
Chaired by Dr. Mohamed Alex Vandi, the event featured remarks from distinguished guests including Professor Foday Sahr, U.S. Ambassador Bryan Hunt, and Deputy Minister of Health 1, Professor Dr. Charles Senesie. Dr. Gebrekrstos Negash Gebru, Resident Advisor for AFENET Sierra Leone, officially presented the graduates, affirming their preparedness to strengthen Sierra Leone’s health security.
With nearly 500 FETP-trained professionals now serving across the country, Sierra Leone is steadily building a resilient, district-level response system equipped to confront health threats such as Ebola, COVID-19, and Lassa fever.
