Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No.1 has remanded 57-year-old retired military personnel, George Lansana on two count charges of conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law and obtaining money by false pretences contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, the accused between Thursday 19 January to Monday 30 January 2023, at No.26B Ross Road Police Barracks Freetown; connived with another unknown individual to commit a crime by obtaining money by false pretences.
The accused also, between the aforesaid dates, with intent, defrauded one Ansumana Andrew Conteh the sum of eighty-five thousand new Leones (NLe85,000), pretending that he has a piece of land situated at Grafton community which is known to be false.
However, after explaining to him the charges in Court, the accused pleaded not guilty.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Ngegba granted the accused person bail in the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand new Leones (NLe150) or present a surety to the Court, who must be a responsible Sierra Leonean; and must have a valid identity card depicting his or her address in Freetown and bail to be approved by the DAR.
Magistrate Mark Ngegba adjourned the matter to Friday, March 24 2023, for another hearing.
